Steel barrel, galvanised pipe and pipe threading

Many commercial properties and also older properties continue to use steel barrel pipework.

Copper generally costs slightly more than steel pipe. Additionally, steel barrel pipe threading and steel barrel joints require expensive equipment and specialist skills which many younger plumbers and engineers do not have to carry out this type of work.

Steel barrel pipes and threading are usually in imperial sizes. but can be adapted to use with exisiting copper pipe work.

Advantages of Galvenised Pipe.

Steel galvanised pipe has a distinct advantage over other types of metal pipes as it offers a more long-lasting and maintenance-free solution at a reasonable cost. The zinc galvenisation process stops corrosion from the iron in steel reacting with oxygen and water which causes rusting. High quality steel galvanised pipes can not only stop rust and corrosion but also other minerals building up inside the pipework.
